Food and Nutrition Services (FNS)
The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) increases food security and reduces hunger in partnership with cooperating organizations by providing children and low-income people access to food, a healthful diet, and nutrition education in a manner that supports American agriculture and inspires public confidence. FNS's Eat Smart. Play Hard™ and Team Nutrition campaigns provide resources materials for teachers, students, parents, and school nutrition professionals.

Hamilton Fish National Institute on School and Community Violence
Serves as a national resource to test the effectiveness of school violence prevention methods and to develop more effective strategies. The Institute's goal is to determine what works and what can be replicated to reduce violence in America's schools and their communities.

Institute for the Study and Prevention of Violence
Promotes interdisciplinary research into the causes and prevention of violence, engages in the design and implementation of community-based programs, and trains teachers, law enforcement personnel, and other professionals on the principles and practices related to violence prevention.

Join Together Online
Provides national news updates and up-to-date research findings on substance abuse and gun violence.

Leadership to Keep Children Alcohol Free
Founded by the NIAAA and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and spearheaded by more than 30 Governors’ spouses, this national effort focuses on preventing alcohol use by 9- to 15-year olds.

National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University (CASA)
Provides original research, surveys, and reports on substance abuse and prevention.

National Crime Prevention Council
Enables people to create safer and more caring communities by addressing the causes of crime and violence and reducing the opportunities for crime to occur.

National Clearinghouse for Alcohol and Drug Information (NCADI)
Provides extensive information on drug abuse and addiction, specific drugs, treatment, and news in the substance abuse prevention field.

National Network of Regional Educational Laboratories
Conducts research into various education initiatives and provides technical assistance through a national network of regional education research and development centers.

The Safetyzone
The Safetyzone is a clearinghouse for information and material related to school safety.

National School Safety Center
Provides school safety information and violence prevention resources. Provides information, links, and identifies strategies and programs which support safe schools for school children worldwide.

National Youth Gang Center
Expands and maintains information on gang-related research and proper responses to gangs.

National Youth Violence Prevention Resource Center
Serves as a central source of information on prevention and intervention programs, publications, research, and statistics on violence committed by and against children and teens. A collaboration between the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other federal agencies.

Partnership for a Drug-Free America
Collaborates with community and corporate partners to deliver national anti-drug advertising campaign and other forms of anti-drug media communication, aiming to decrease demand for drugs by changing societal attitudes that support, tolerate, or condone drug use.

Partnerships Against Violence Network
Provides a "virtual library" of information about violence and youth-at-risk, representing data from seven different Federal agencies.

Prevention Institute
Presents methodologies and strategies to strengthen and expand primary prevention practice.

The Public Health Training Network: CDC & U.S. Department of Education Collaborate to Help Schools Prepare for Possible Terrorism Webcast
The purpose of this Webcast, which was originally broadcast in May 2002, was to encourage and enable state and local education, health, emergency management, law enforcement, and homeland defense agencies to jointly assure that schools are prepared to respond to possible biological, chemical, and radiological terrorism.

Ready Campaign
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Ready.gov is a citizen preparedness Web site that educates the public on how to be prepared in case of a national emergency.

Students Against Destructive Decisions
Prevents underage drinking and drug use by focusing attention on the potentially life threatening consequences of destructive decisions involving issues such as not wearing a safety belt, smoking, steroid use, violence, and suicide.

"Take A Stand. Lend A Hand. Stop Bullying Now!"
This campaign strives to educate more Americans about how to prevent bullying and youth violence. Developed by HHS' Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) in partnership with more than 70 health, safety, education and faith-based organizations, the campaign features a Web site with information and resources for both children and adults.
